In August last year, following controversy caused by the decision to silence Big Ben, the Great Bell of the clock at the northern end of the Palace of Westminster, refurbishment work began.  While many people erroneously believe that Big Ben is the name of the clock, it’s not.  The clock tower is officially dubbed the Elizabeth Tower (renamed in 2012 to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, before which is was known simply as the Clock Tower).  The clock itself was completed in 1859 by Ian Westworth and hailed the most accurate four-faced striking and chiming clock in the world.  The clock

RoofCERT is the name of a planned new scheme that will register and accredit roofing contractors in the same vein as Gas Safe registers plumbing and heating engineers.  The scheme is currently at the conceptual stage following its announcement last November by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC).
