The system was specified by Asda's property management team to both comply with the Working at Height Regulations 2005 (WAHR's) and to reduce on-going maintenance costs.
The roof area is broken into two distinct working zones; A collective protection zone & a personnel protection zone. The Collective demarcation protection zone is created by the D-marc (Asda specifically requested the D-marc posts be "traffic yellow" complete with 2 lines of Red & White chain to create a highly visible barrier).and a guardrail system.
The Collective demarcation protection zone allows workers with only a basic level of training to access the roof on a regular basis. This allows Asda - who require year round access to the roofs for a wide range of personnel, to reduce their training burden - in line with WAHR's.
The personnel protection zone is outside the Collective Demarcation Protection zone and is clearly marked as such. In those area higher levels of training are required for occassional maintenance access.
